CPD outside the United Kingdom

Accreditation travels as far as the recognition of the body that granted it, which is a matter of fact rather than of claim.

How recognition actually works

There is no single global CPD authority, and no accreditation body can honestly claim worldwide recognition as a matter of right. What exists is a set of national and professional systems that each decide what they accept.

In practice an accreditation is useful abroad when the receiving body can see what was assessed and against what standard. That is a documentation question, and it is why our register entries state the Standards edition used.

Providers outside the United Kingdom

We assess providers based outside the United Kingdom against the same Standards. The register entry records the country, so anyone relying on the accreditation can see where the provider operates.

Where a country has its own mandatory scheme for a profession, our accreditation sits alongside it and does not replace it.

Claims to be wary of

Be cautious of any accreditation described as internationally recognised without saying by whom. Recognition is specific: a named body, a named scheme, a named requirement it satisfies.

We will tell you plainly which requirements our accreditation does and does not satisfy, including when the answer is that you need something else.
